Blessing of the Fleet with Erwin Marine Sales
Each spring, something deeply meaningful happens on the water. Boat after boat glides out, flags fluttering, laughter echoing, engines humming at a gentle No Wake Speed. But this isn’t just another Saturday cruise—it’s the Blessing of the Fleet on Chickamauga Lake, and you’re invited to be part of a tradition that connects our boating community in a truly powerful way.
Where Tradition Meets the Water
Set against the backdrop of the Tennessee River, the Blessing of the Fleet is a tradition observed by marinas and coastal communities across the country—but it takes on a unique Southern warmth right here in Chattanooga. This free, open-to-all event begins at 1:00 p.m., with the procession launching from Hidden Harbor Bluffs, just upstream from Big Ridge Yacht Club.
An Erwin Marine boat will proudly lead the procession, followed by the Chattanooga Fire Department, as participants move peacefully toward the Blessing area. Every boat will proceed at a No Wake Speed, creating a serene, respectful passage that reflects the significance of the moment. As you circle the Blessing Boat and turn inward, each vessel is offered a blessing—for safety, joy, and memorable moments to come throughout the boating season.
A Community Anchored in Meaning
What makes this event so special isn’t just the visual grandeur of dozens of boats sweeping in formation, but the shared spirit behind it. The Blessing of the Fleet is more than a maritime ceremony—it’s a celebration of togetherness, gratitude, and the good fortune of life on the water. Whether you’re a long-time boater or new to lake life, this event is a reminder of what makes our boating community so exceptional: connection.
Chickamauga Lake isn’t just a body of water—it’s a way of life. For many, it’s where family traditions are born, where friendships deepen, and where stories unfold with each passing summer. Erwin Marine Sales is proud to be part of that story, and to lead this symbolic launch into another season of boating.
Know Before You Go
Participation is effortless—no registration is required. All you need is your vessel, your crew, and a heart ready to embrace the moment. For event communications during the procession, simply tune in to VHF Channel 72. This helps ensure a smooth, coordinated experience for everyone involved.
After receiving the Blessing, boats will gently peel away from the area at No Wake Speed, heading off toward their afternoon destinations—perhaps a cove for lunch, a quiet shoreline for fishing, or a favorite spot to anchor and soak in the spring sunshine. And while Erwin Marine offers a wide array of boats for sale and Harris Cruiser pontoons for rental during the April–October season, on this day, we focus less on horsepower and more on harmony. It’s about shared reverence for the water and appreciation for the blessings that come with it.
Make It a Day to Remember
There’s something truly humbling about witnessing dozens of boats, large and small, gathering not to compete or to show off—but to give thanks. The Blessing of the Fleet on Chickamauga Lake is a day to pause, reflect, and set intentions for the season ahead. We invite you to join us at the Bluffs, surrounded by kindred spirits who understand the magic of a good day on the water. Whether you arrive aboard a brand-new SeaRay or a beloved family pontoon, you’ll be welcomed with open arms—and open waters.
At Erwin Marine Sales, we believe boating is more than a pastime. It’s a lifestyle rooted in freedom, family, and the timeless joy of cruising into a fresh season. The Blessing of the Fleet is your invitation to step into that lifestyle with meaning.
We’ll see you on the water!
